Overview

As part of the global research team, this role will focus on and contribute to the global freight market analysis, commodity research and strategy. Additionally, this role will also cover specific commodities relevant to the market analysis, depending on which vessel sizes the analyst is covering. The successful candidate works closely together with Oldendorff’s internal research team and its commercial desks to forecast and identify changes in freight and trade flows.

Tasks

As a Freight Analyst, the candidate will be responsible for conducting research on the dry bulk shipping sector and will report to the Senior Freight Analyst with below responsibilities:

• To gather, analyze and summarize relevant company, industry and economic information using a broad spectrum of appropriate sources.
• Determining the most appropriate and timely solution to meet the team’s needs with minimal guidance.
• To provide synthesis, insight and practical implications within tight deadlines, via end products in the form of single exhibits, written summaries, basic fact packs and spreadsheets.
• Serve as a thought partner to the commercial team, leveraging to company internal resources and external networks and to participate in the team’s problem solving process.

Requirements:

• 1 to 2 years experience as an Analyst either in the commodity or shipping space. Fresh graduates with strong academic achievements are encouraged to apply.
• Must hold a degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or related field
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, charting), as well as in report writing.
