Responsibilities:
To cover anti-piracy enforcement work in Asia Pacific.
Manage external counsel
- Manage retention of external counsel
- Manage external counsel
Manage legal enforcement
- Interface with Asia/Pacific License Compliance (“LC”) team, for all LC related matters
- Manage both civil and criminal enforcement actions
- Manage letter program (both in-house program, as well as external counsel program)
- Negotiate/ review/ draft settlement agreements (in both Chinese and English, as needed)
Support of local business
- Provide support on piracy prevention issues and training to LC team as needed
- Support LC audit program, as needed, including escalations to legal action
- Review leads for raid action, including providing all support needed by external counsel for raid action
- Draft and review various legal documents as required by local business
Qualifications:
- Past experience in dealing with anti-piracy, trademark, copyright protection or other intellectual property enforcement issues for multinational companies is required.
- Experience in dealing with government (enforcement) authorities is desired, along with a proven ability to develop and maintain a good and solid relationship with these government agencies.
- Ability to work independently, with strong analytical ability to seek efficient solutions suitable for the anti-piracy campaigns.
- Must have good writing, oral communication, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Excellent Chinese and English skills (both written and spoken) are required due to working with China market.
- Familiarity with contractual documents covering acquisition and/or licensing of computer software and covering software reseller/distributor relationships is desirable.
- College degree required. Degree(s) in Law, Law Enforcement, Business, or Computer Science is (are) a plus.
- Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of related experience in piracy prevention or a legal-related area, but will think like a business person in order to better support and facilitate the goals of the LC team and SISW sales managers.
