Job description
Sorts, delivers, and picks up mail and flat packages (interoffice, special services, and overnight mail) on assigned routes throughout the Washington Hospital Center (WHC).

- High School Diploma or GED Required Experience
- Less than 1 year 0 to 6 months experience Required Licenses and Certifications
- A valid motor vehicle operator's license with no points is required (applicable to all mail clerk whose responsibility is to sometimes operate a vehicle). Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires the ability to read, write and perform basic addition and subtraction.
- Requires the ability to comply with basic oral and written instructions.
- Sorts incoming U.S. and interoffice mail for delivery. Verifies location or room number and indicates it on the mail.
- Delivers and picks up U.S., interoffice, and special service mail. Logs in upon receipt, obtains signature, and records time delivered for special services mail.
- Operates postage machine (Parogon machine) to process outgoing mail. May assist with maintaining postage account.
- Forwards mail to discharged WHC patients based on their address in hospital records.
- Answers incoming calls and provides basic information regarding mail service. Refers problems to supervisor or appropriate personnel.
- Operates company owned or leased vehicles in a safe and professional manner
- Assists receiving locations with verification of their deliveries and responds appropriately to customer questions or concerns relating to deliveries.
