Job Summary:
Technician in the maintenance department with ability to assist in the mechanical needs required for the department’s equipment. Works in close communication with department’s lead and/or supervisor to ensure that the daily, weekly and monthly goals are met. Monitors systems to ensure proper operation and ensures that countermeasures are followed or developed to avoid any crises that can be derived. Helps mentor, repair and execute work alongside other maintenance staff in and out of department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs work in accordance with all quality systems requirements included in SQF policies and procedures, including Food Safety, Food Defense, HACCP, and GMP’s as well as meets all company corporate requirements related to quality and food safety programs. Employee is responsible to report Food Safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Maintains a good attendance record to ensure that there is no interruption to production or services to our customers.
- Works safely in accordance with company’s safety program requirements.
- Wears all required personal protective equipment
- Assigns or ensures that other employees in department have sufficient work and/or works with supervisor or manager
- Entry level ability to perform Total Productive Maintenance in any equipment that include but are not limited to repair or replacement of: Bearings, Bushings, Shafts, Gear Boxes, Greasing, Lubing, etc.
- Entry level ability to assess issues, troubleshoot and develop proper counter measures.
- Inspects systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Work as a team within department and with other departments.
OTHER DUTIES
- Be able to communicate in English, by reading, speaking and writing.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices and maintain shop clean of hazards.
- Other duties may be assigned as required by position.
- Be flexible and be available to work weekends, OT as required, and be able to work day, night and graveyard shift.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalency and have a minimum of four (4) years of Refrigeration maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment or specialized training from a technical school in which a certificate was obtained.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employee is exposed to non-weather wet condition and sub-freezing temperatures. Floors are wet and slippery and anti-slip shoes are required.
