The Town of Drexel is actively seeking qualified candidates for the position of Police Officer. Drexel has a diverse population of 1,760 residents as of the 2020 Census and currently employs 18 full-time staff who work in 5 departments: Administration/Finance, Police, Public Works, Recreation and Fire.

The open position of Police Officer is an integral part of the 5-member department. The position requires semi-skilled and skilled work in enforcing the laws and ordinances of the town and providing for the public safety of the citizens. The full-time department consists of a working chief, sergeant and 3 officers. a 12-hour shift rotation is worked on an A/B schedule. The hired individual must meet standards set by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education Training and Standards Commission. The ideal candidate will have a minimum two-year degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field, with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in law enforcement work.
