Job description
Maximize company sales growth and profitability by being accountable for conducting inbound quality product inspections using random sampling methods and acceptable quality levels. Accountable for leading the inbound quality assurance program at the distribution center. Assess the quality of inbound product provide assessment to sourcing, merchandising, and vendor / agent for any shipments that do not meet our expectations. Manage any corrective action plans that occur in the warehouse by managing temp labor and close communication with the warehouse leadership. Determine the root cause of issues identified during the inspection process to ensure that our quality standards for each product is set to, or exceeds the expectations of our customers, and to further alleviate any on-going issues.
Responsibilities
- Conduct inbound quality product inspections using risk based approach to vendor performance and product risk. Assess shipments for labeling, packaging, general appearance, and construction quality and create reports with detailed descriptions and photos of issues, including possible solutions to issues if appropriate.
- Manage corrective action plans associated with failed inbound inspections which may include: RTV and/or managing the correction of product to first quality either internally or by using an outside third-party company.
- When requested, research off-site companies and provide merchandising teams quotes for corrective action plans
- Conduct follow up inspections of previously failed product to validate agreed upon improvements.
- Review returns and adjustments reports, customer product reviews, and feedback from store and warehouse associates, or from the field to determine possible on-going inspections of existing products.
- Educate the delivery teams, Store, and Distribution Center teams by communicating product characteristics, product issues, and inbound inspection results for new or existing product.
- Manage vendor or agent visits in the Distribution Centers for information purposes or special projects
- Manage the hiring and training of temporary associates to include overseeing time and attendance and termination as appropriate.
- Create all debit memos pertaining to special projects conducted by the Quality Assurance associates and temporary employees.
- Collaborate with IC and Returns Departments to help facilitate returns for quality issues and determine the best disposition decision (return to stock, RTV, closeout or donation).
Qualifications
- Good reading and written language skills (English), good eye for details, basic arithmetic, interpersonal skills, telephone presence, data entry
- A minimum of 3 years prior Crate and Barrel store or distribution center experience preferred
- General office equipment, including computer and printer, Google platform (Email, Docs, Sheets, Slides etc.), iPad
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Forklift/machine training is preferred.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to determine the specific audience for which the communication is intended.
- Detailed oriented in order to identify possible quality issues by comparing product construction and characteristic to an approved sample.
- Organizational skills required to manage multiple inspections and or corrective action projects simultaneously.
