Position Summary
We are seeking a talented Scrum Master professional to join our team who will coordinate and coach our software development team.
The selected candidate will assist the product teams creating software solutions on the Advancing Operational Test Infrastructure (AOTI) program which supports Operational Test Command (OTC) at Fort Hood, TX. The AOTI program is actively integrating solutions into OTC’s eXpeditionary Live-Virtual-Constructive Command Center (XLCC) capability. The selected candidate will facilitate and help guide the software development product owners, teams, and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum concepts, values, practices, and principles focusing on improving team effectiveness. Summarily, the ideal candidate be responsible for applying scrum to produce high-quality work through management of timelines, problem resolution, and coaching team members on Agile methods and processes.
This is an exciting, full-time opportunity, located in Killen, TX. The applicant will be required to work in the Killeen, TX office with opportunities for a hybrid schedule of some remote work as the project allows. This role will require a combination of independent creative solution development skills and teamwork within a broader spectrum of interdisciplinary team members. What You’ll Do
- Assist the product owner/team with getting work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
- Facilitate internal communication and effective collaboration assisting to ensure conflict resolution.
- Coach team members on Agile frameworks to get the most out of self-organization.
- Gives support using a servant leadership style whenever possible, leads by example, and demonstrates value-add principles.
- Assess the Scrum maturity of the team and organization, and coaches them to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
- Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgment, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving.
- Notice differences and issues as they arise and elevates them to project leadership.
- Make tough calls, being a voice of reason and authority, ensuring Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to.
- Work, collaborate, and communicate effectively, internally and externally, improving transparency and sharing information.
- Organize and facilitate sprints, retrospective meetings and daily stand-ups.
- Support and educate the product owners, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog and release plan.
- Improve personal skills, continually learning new tools and techniques to manage oneself as well as help improve the team.
- Ensure deliverables are up to quality standards at the end of each sprint
- Help build a productive environment where team members ‘own’ the product and enjoy working on it
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or closely related field
- 3 or more years of experience in a scrum master role
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Active DoD Secret clearance is required
- Ability to recognize what is and is not scrum
- Familiarity with software development
- Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)
- Experience with successful Agile techniques
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and servant leadership skills
- Problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Ability to adjust and be flexible to a changing environment
- Self-motivation and ability to stay focused in the middle of distraction
- Scrum master certification is required
