Job description
The Cost/Inventory Accountant/Analyst plans, organizes, and manages the finance and control functions related to inventory and asset valuation for Alloy Surfaces Company. Analyzes and controls costs related to inventory management and general ledger/financial accuracy and presentation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Prepares monthly reports of results, monthly forecasts, and annual operating plan related to Inventory
- Analysis of perpetual inventory balances/details
- Cost management evaluation, recommendation and implementation
- Ensures accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results. Investigates and explains book to physical adjustments
- Performs audits of bills of materials to ensure product costs are accurate and accounted for properly.
- Ensures timely and accurate input of bill of material and price code changes
- Ensures bill of material and costing accurately reflect production operations
- Maintains a perpetual inventory for finished goods and reconciles the perpetual inventory to production, shipping, and returns on a daily basis
- Involved in cost and pricing data and contract costing support
- Documents and understands ERP/MRP systems, hardware, and reporting conventions
- Provides support to Controller in the preparation of financial statements according to US GAAP and/or IFRS standards
- Assists in completion of special projects and collaborates with various department leaders
- Assists in the preparation of financial statements budgets or forecasts
- Participates in preparation for the quarterly or annual audit
- Prepares journal entries, invoices, and performs accounts reconciliation for the monthly/annual closing
- Assist in supervision and training of lower level staff in the organization
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Controller

Requirements:
EDUCATION
- BS in Accounting or Finance
EXPERIENCE
- 5 years of pertinent experience with increasing responsibility
- Minimum 3 years of experience with responsibility for inventory management, costing/pricing
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance.
- CMA/CFM/CPA a plus
- Ability to quickly gain the trust and respect of both peers and subordinates
- Ability to lead by example, and guide/motivate
- Ability to build and manage strategic development and manufacturing partnerships
- Ability to actively communicate, inspire and motivate all levels of staff
- Ability to think and act strategically and proactively
- Strong writing, communication and presentation skills
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Use of computer.
