Staff Attorney - Tennessee Court of Appeals (Knoxville)

The Tennessee Court of Appeals in Knoxville, Tennessee, has an immediate opening for the position of Staff Attorney. This position requires highly responsible administrative and professional legal work.

Under the direction of the Court of Appeals, the Staff Attorney is responsible for reviewing all motions and drafting proposed orders; screening appeals for procedural and jurisdictional problems; reviewing and making recommendations on applications for extraordinary appeals; assisting the Court in its regular duties; and providing legal advice to the appellate court clerks.

Qualifications: Applicants must have graduated from law school, be licensed to practice law in Tennessee, and possess a valid Tennessee Law License. A minimum of three years or more of legal experience and prior clerkship or staff attorney experience is preferred. Experience in the practice of law or as an appellate law clerk is preferred but not required. The compensation for the position is determined based upon the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
