Job Duties
Western State Hospital is recruiting to hire an Office Services Specialist/Unit Clerk to provide administrative/clerical support to the patient units in the hospital. This position is responsible for analyzing discharged records for quantitative/qualitative deficiencies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and timely processing of records.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent required. Experience with or practical knowledge of Document Management, or other software utilized to scan medical records, and Millennium or other EHR applications, is required. A demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize tasks and to multi-task in a high stress environment is required. The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is required. The ability to collect and assemble information into an appropriate format for reporting/review by outside providers is required. Proficiency in computer applications and data entry as well as experience with Microsoft Office products is required.
Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with psychiatric services, terminology, and medications is preferred.
Previous experience working in clerical or patient care environments is preferred.
Previous experience working in a Health Information Management department is preferred.
Advanced training in health technology or business administration tasks is preferred.
Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
